Structural Engineer II

Location: Irvine, CA (Hybrid)

About the Role

We are seeking a Structural Engineer II to join an Irvine-based team in support of a growing and diverse project backlog. This mid-level engineering role focuses on structural analysis, design, and review across new and existing buildings, industrial manufacturing supports, and pipe rack systems.

The Engineer II will execute defined engineering tasks under senior oversight, contributing to technically sound solutions while developing professional judgment and project ownership. This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a collaborative, detail-oriented environment and is ready to deepen their technical expertise.

Key ResponsibilitiesPerform structural engineering analysis and design for multi-story buildings, pipe racks, and industrial support structuresApply principles of statics, dynamics, and load paths in comprehensive structural calculationsPrepare high-quality technical deliverables, including calculation packages, technical reports, and presentationsParticipate in field surveys as directed by senior staff; document conditions and clarify scopeDevelop detailed 3D analytical models for complex structures using ETABS (preferred), RISA, or SAP2000Review plans and designs for compliance with IBC, CBC, ASCE 7, and material standards including AISC, ACI, NDS, and TMSCollaborate with engineers and support client-facing meetings and discussionsTrack project hours accurately and assist with workload planning, estimates, and budgetsEssential SkillsStrong foundation in structural engineering fundamentals, including statics, dynamics, and load path behaviorProficiency with ETABS (preferred), SAP2000, and RISA; familiarity with RAM and MathCADWorking knowledge of building codes and material standards (IBC, CBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, NDS, TMS)Ability to develop clear, well-documented calculation packages using MathCAD or Excel-based toolsStrong written and verbal communication skills for technical collaboration and client interactionAdditional QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering2–4 years of professional experience (or 1–2 years with advanced qualifications)Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification requiredExperience with Southern California structural project types preferredExperience working on small engineering teams and balancing production-level tasks under oversightProficiency in Revit or AutoCAD for plan markups and coordinationExposure to seismic retrofit projects (NPC-5 experience is a plus, not required)Work Environment & Culture

This position is primarily office-based with hybrid flexibility, allowing remote work provided project responsibilities are met. Typical work hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with an expectation of being in the office at least two days per week.. You will join a small, highly collaborative team of engineers and consultants who value technical rigor, accountability, and mutual support. The culture emphasizes reliability, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Occasional field visits are required and are typically conducted alongside another engineer.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $40.00/hr.
