As a Co-Store Director, you are a strategic partner to the Store Director and a key leader in the overall performance of the store. You help guide the full store team, support daily operations, and ensure a consistent, high-quality guest and team member experience.

What You'll Do:
Model and promote our values of passion, excellence, hospitality, and teamwork in every interaction.Serve as a visible, accessible leader on the sales floor, supporting team members and engaging with guests.Recruit, hire, and develop team members, building a strong pipeline of future leaders.Oversee sales departments (Produce & Floral, Meat & Seafood, Bakery, Deli & CMS, and Center Store) to ensure merchandising, signage, and assortment reflect local guest needs and our brand standards.Manage key financial areas, including sales, gross margin, labor planning, inventory control, and shrink reduction.Partner with department managers to ensure effective ordering, scheduling, and workload planning.Maintain full compliance with food safety, sanitation, risk management, and all regulatory requirements.Serve as a brand ambassador, representing The Fresh Market with hospitality and professionalism in the store and local community.Build strong relationships with guests, responding to questions, resolving concerns, and modeling guest recovery.Engage with local organizations, vendors, and partners to strengthen the store’s presence in the community.Availability:

This position requires the willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays. 

Qualifications:

At a minimum, what you’ll need:

5+ years of progressive management experience in supermarkets, retail, restaurants, hospitality, or general businessDemonstrated success overseeing multiple departments or store-wide operationsStrong financial acumen with the ability to achieve sales, margin, labor, and operational goalsExcellent communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skillsBasic proficiency with POS systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office SuiteFood Safety Certification or ability to obtain after hireMust be 21 years of age or older

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, retail management, or related field (or equivalent experience)Experience leading in a grocery or high-volume specialty retail environmentProven success in developing strong teams and delivering exceptional guest experiencesBilingual skills a plus

Physical and Work Conditions
