UW faculty and staff also enjoy outstanding benefits, professional growth opportunities and unique resources in an environment noted for diversity, intellectual excitement, artistic pursuits, and natural beauty. **Housing and Food Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Stockroom Attendant 2 to join their team.** **POSITION PURPOSE** Receive, issue and maintain an inventory of prepared foods, recipe ingredients, grocery items and supplies for the dining unit or market on the University of Washington campus and support the unit(s) by assisting where needed. Husky Grind is a comprehensive specialty coffee education program on campus at UW Seattle. Husky Grind gives the UW community a chance to explore the complexities of coffee through fun, in-depth?and hands-on workshops that dive into?history and supply chains, roasting, brewing,?and sensory development. Workshops are free, open to all UW community members and available to individuals of all experience levels. Husky Grind offers workshops on roasting, cupping, brewing, and barista basics, as well as pop-up tabling events throughout the university to showcase the story of our coffee. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Receive ordered materials from loading dock; check purchase receipts and invoices; return damaged goods; and stock shelves. + Assign, instruct and check the work of the student assistant(s). + Fill and receive day-to-day requisitions from Husky Grind stations and advise students and staff on questions regarding inventory in stock. + Issue food items and supplies. + Maintain compliance with state and institution policies regarding receipt, issuance and inventory of supplies, materials and equipment; notify superior when necessary to reorder inventory. + Maintain inventory and ordering records and/or cost records and periodically take physical inventories. + Store merchandise received in refrigerators, freezers or storage rooms according to inventory storage locations and food handling guidelines.Rotate stock so that older items are used first. + Rearrange stock to accommodate inventory movement and use hand dollies and pallet jacks to move stock and equipment. + May drive university vehicle to transport product from Central Storage/other units. + Maintain stockroom and perform custodial duties in stockroom areas. + May participate in disposal of surplus materials. + Perform related duties as required, including cashiering, preparation and service of food in the various concepts during rush periods or when there are staff shortages. + Proficiency in specialty coffee standards and preparation including coffee cupping, brewing theory, and have a desire to participate in and/or facilitate coffee education events under direction of the Husky Grind manager. **POSITION DIMENSIONS** Position involves lifting and working in extremely hot and cold environments. Knowledge required is beyond regular stockroom work in that the position must know how foods received and stored are to look, considering expiration date, appearance and temperature. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS** High school graduation and six months of full-time experience as a Stockroom Attendant 1.Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. **SPECIFIC POSITION REQUIREMENTS Experience that demonstrates success:** + Handling food and perishable products safely. + Driving small trucks and vehicles on highly-congested streets. + Reading, writing and speaking English. + Working independently by following written procedures and instruction. + Multi-tasking in an environment where there is simultaneous interaction with staff and customers. + Working in an environment where there is daily interaction with a diverse group of staff and customers. **CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT** + A satisfactory outcome from criminal background verification is required prior to hire. + Membership in the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) Union. + Food Worker’s Card required within two weeks of employment and maintenance of the valid card thereafter. + Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Washington Driver’s License. **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS** + Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently. + Ability to walk up to 45 minutes at a time for up to 7 hours a day, varying stance and postures. + Ability to push and pull with 30 pounds of force frequently. + Ability to perform repetitive arm, hand and wrist motions on a frequent basis. + Ability to reach frequently at waist level, above waist and shoulder level.Ability to communicate orally with customers.
