The Stewarding Supervisor is an entry level management position that supports the Executive Steward. This position oversees the team responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and operations of the kitchen areas. The main responsibilities include washing and storing of china, glass, & silver, keeping the floors clean and safe, and maintaining the kitchen lines and serving area. This individual must take an active role in the training of all stewarding associates, including preparing each person for required safety and process training. They must work closely with any 3rd party cleaning contractors to ensure that company standards are upheld, and the kitchen is prepared each day for work activity.
What you will be doing:
Complete payroll for the stewarding department.Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, which inspire employees to meet and exceed standards.Direct staff in proper use of chemicals and supplies.Direct staff in set up, dish up and breakdown of Banquet Kitchen.Maintain work area clean and organized.Maintain and supervise cleaning program and cleanliness of work areas.Maintain control of china, glassware and silver between all food and beverage departments.Maintain sanitary kitchen, dish room and pot room operation.Maintain the dish machine in proper working condition, request for maintenance repairs through the work order system.Promote employee empowerment.Report all unsafe conditions immediately.Select, train, supervise, develop, discipline and counsel employees according to Company policies and procedures.Supervise and/or conduct inventory of glassware and supplies; maintain at established par levels.Order all ware-washing supplies.Perform in the capacity of any position supervised.Attend all mandatory meetings.What are we looking for?
High school diploma required; additional technical training is desirable2 years of supervisory experience in kitchen operations, preferably in a full-service hotelFluent in English and ability to communicate with all associates and customersUnderstanding of ware washing techniques and organization of dish room.Certifications required for kitchen management operations.Computer skills to generate equipment orders, manage payroll, and record inventories.OKANA Resort is part of Pyramid Global Hospitality, a leading hospitality company that offers career opportunities and has a steadfast commitment to putting people first.
