Duties & Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast, friendly customer service. Assist customers by offering product suggestions and filling special orders. Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques through phone interactions, in‑store intercom announcements, and one‑on‑one conversations. Answer incoming calls appropriately; resolve customer complaints and escalate to the Store Director when necessary. Department Knowledge & Food/Drink Preparation Maintain full knowledge of duties performed by all department employees. Oversee and assist with department functions including preparation, brewing, and serving food and beverage items. Implement proper and efficient product preparation and packaging techniques. Operate related equipment such as kitchen utensils, conventional and microwave ovens, coffee grinders, coffee machines, espresso machines, blenders, printers, and pallet jacks. Maintain hot and cold foods to company standards. Brew coffee and tea; prepare beverage recipes according to standard procedures. Cashiering & Customer Transactions Operate electronic cash register systems to total customer purchases. Accept payments and make accurate change. Store Appearance, Cleanliness & Safety Maintain case cleanliness, product freshness, and attractive visual appeal. Ensure proper cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of the Starbucks area and equipment. Maintain a safe work environment by following required safety and sanitation practices. Ensure all temperatures are properly maintained during preparation, display, and storage. Supervision, Training & Employee Development Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees. Ensure adequate coverage and service levels by maintaining an effective scheduling plan. Train employees on store policies, sales techniques, and record‑keeping procedures. Identify high‑potential employees and provide development and advancement opportunities. Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance. Initiate personnel actions such as interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary measures. Operations, Inventory & Reporting Plan daily operations and monitor department production processes to ensure efficiency and profitability. Prepare sales and inventory reports; participate in physical inventory every four weeks. Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness; stock and rotate product according to division standards. Maintain and organize coolers and storage areas. Ensure compliance with proper code‑dating procedures for all department products. Understand and follow all opening and closing procedures for the department. Merchandising & Promotional Execution Build displays, rotate stock, and remove outdated or spoiled products. Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays in alignment with company merchandising standards. Receiving & Back Room Operations Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders using invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, and stocking/rotating product. Follow all temperature, storage, and product‑handling guidelines to ensure food safety and quality. Policies & Standards Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook. Follow and uphold department standards for handling quick‑sale items and specialty products.
