STAGE - Ingénieur mathématiques H/F
Country France City PAU Workplace location PAU-CSTJF(FRA) Employer company TotalEnergies OneTech Domain Geoscience & Reservoir Type of contract Internship Contract duration 6 Months Experience Less than 3 years Context & Environment

To successfully integrate the electricity and renewable energy sectors, TotalEnergies has created a new entity, OneTech, which brings together all the technical and R&D expertise from its business units (Exploration & Production, Refining & Chemicals, Marketing & Services, and Gas, Renewables & Power). With nearly 3,400 engineers and technicians across 9 sites in Europe, OneTech is organized around three divisions: an industrial division to support the Company’s growth in gas, renewable energies, electricity, and CO₂ emissions reduction; a Research & Development division to continue transforming TotalEnergies with a focus on a low‑carbon energy mix; and a support functions division.

You will be assigned to the PAU site.

You will be part of the structural geology team, made up of 6 engineers, as well as the R&D team. Your role will be to process numerical models and work on artificial intelligence tools.

Activities

As a Mathematical Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

Developing automated processing pipelines for image analysis of models at various time stages, including image segmentation and the extraction of key geometric parameters.

Conducting comprehensive analysis of numerical models.

This internship is part of the Deep In Salt project, dedicated to understanding and predicting intra-salt structures for the safe development of storage caverns. It focuses on the analysis and quantification of 2D numerical models of salt deformation obtained through high‑resolution forward modelling. The work involves developing automated processing workflows to analyze model images at different time steps, through segmentation and the extraction of key geometric parameters. The internship relies on mathematical tools and artificial intelligence approaches, including unsupervised and semi‑supervised learning, to characterize intra-salt structures and assess the influence of input parameters on the deformation behaviors observed.

You will be working within a team of experienced professionals and alongside a tutor-coach, who will be your reference for your future role. Tailored support will help you build autonomy and guide you towards successfully obtaining your qualification.
