As a member of an Agile Scrum team performing Algorithm development and Analysis for the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Fire Control (GFC) product, you will be part of the team that develops new algorithms, improves old algorithms, and assesses the effectiveness and performance of them in the context of the GFC software (currently ~1.5 million lines of code) that controls the missile defense system that protects the United States from intercontinental ballistic missile attack.
The selected Staff Systems Engineer / Product Owner will work in a collaborative environment to understand, implement, and assess new capabilities and algorithms. These are mathematics and physics based complex solutions that are critical to the performance of Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) mission. As the Product Owner of your scrum team, it will be your responsibility to interpret, scope and estimate the work required to develop algorithms to meet the System Level requirements and Prime Item Description Specification requirements. You will also plan and schedule the performance of that work by your team.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 12 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM and 10 years of related experience, or 8 years of experience with a PhD in STEM.Experience leading a technical team of 5 or more employees with proven people leadership skillsStrong technical presentation skillsExperience estimating planning and scheduling Algorithm development and Analysis work for a technical teamRecent and extensive MATLAB and Python Experience/ proficiency Eager to learn and absorb new concepts and informationProven experience in developing, prototyping and evaluating complex algorithmsExtensive background in mathematics and physics.Math Skills: Linear algebra, statisticsPhysics Skills: Astro or Orbital mechanics, RF propagationCan be from course work or work experienceMust be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to startPreferred Qualifications:
