Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add Staff Engineer Software - Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Software organization. This position can be filled out of San Diego or Palmdale, California.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Support virtualization and SW architecture statement of work in support of a new development effortUnderstand and decompose customer requirements to support software development and delivery across multiple business areas and baselinesMonitor external technology development and maturation both in industry and within the company, applying new technologies and principles across programs to build a consistent technical vision for data center systemsWork with Thread Leads as well as system Responsible Engineers to develop acceptance criteria for engineering design and implementation, ensuring consistency of implementation across multiple business areas and baselinesLead new design and capture efforts across the enterprise to build the foundation for future systems and incorporate opportunities into existing programsDecompose complex issues into high-level executive briefs for program leadershipProvide technical leadership to a team of software cloud and infrastructure engineersProvide technical leadership, direction and knowledge transfer to other team members during the implementation of technical solutionsThe selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels
Basic Qualifications:
Staff: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience.Experience with the full SW Development Life Cycle (SDLC)Experience with the following programming and scripting languages: Java, C++, and PythonExperience with developing multi-threaded SW used for one near real-time mission critical applicationsExperience with SDLC tools including at least three of the following: Jira, Crucible, Bitbucket, Subversion, Bamboo, Jenkins, Sonarqube, Fortify, or CoverityExperience with Agile SW development, Software integration, and testingFamiliarity with common data interfaces and endpoint wiringExcellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and managementRecent experience and proficiency in software architecture, design, implementation, integration, and debugging of Java applicationsAbility to collaborate with systems engineers, software designers, hardware designers and integration/test engineers to develop and maintain complex systemsActive in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. (Of note: SAP/PAR will be upgraded once selected candidate is in role. Therefore, candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain upgraded SAP/PAR.)Preferred Qualifications:
Current applicable SAP accessCan identify moderate architecture defects in Cameo and presentation materialCore understanding of how SW, FW, and HW components will fit into a system architecture.Able to document, capture, and present software architectural components in modeling or diagramming tools such as Cameo.Familiarity with DoDAF architecture models and viewsHigh level understanding of architecting system lifecycles from requirements through testRecent experience and proficiency with DevSecOp toolchains such as: Atlassian tool suite, Jira, GitHub, GitLab, SonarQube, Coverity, AND/OR Jenkins within the last three years.Experience with Static & Dynamic Code Analysis Tools such as: Coverity, Fortify, AND/OR SonarQube within the last three yearsStrong understanding of the following:
layered SW architectures (e.g. Application, System, Device)API integration into systemsSW-hardware interfaces and where they exist in the architectureIsolation architecturesobject oriented principles including design patternsCyber controls and managementPrimary Level Salary Range: $177,000.00 - $265,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
