Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Electrical Engineer within the System Integration Lab (SIL). The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and have the ability to focus on first time quality, engineering rigor, and test methodology. This position will be on site and located in Palmdale, CA.
As the Staff Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and supporting electrical engineering activities within the Lab Test team, ensuring electrical performance, power integrity, and safe operation of test environments.
Key Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Develop electrical wiring designs of a functional system including the selection of aircraft-type conductors and electro-mechanical components such as connectors, relays, switches, circuit breakers, and terminal junction systems.Support design requirements for electrical power generation, conversion and distribution systems, and circuit protective requirements for aerospace vehicle systems including Electrical Loads Analysis, test procedures, power architecture, reports, analyses, and other vehicle power related deliverables. Responsible for all aspects of system/component design and development including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting. May participate on a subcontractor management team and will act as the technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurementEvaluate vendor documents to ensure specifications and data sheet requirements are met. Review documentation such as but not limited to schematics, diagrams, equipment data sheets, hazard area classification drawings, and electrical analysis or studies developed by other engineers and designers. Follows documented processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of electrical commodities. Supports minor design changes and troubleshooting under supervision (e.g., swapping components, rework direction, continuity checks).Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 12 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience.
Must have an active DoD Top Secret (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, prior to the commencement of employment, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needAbility to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and/or test-stand block diagrams.Experience with electrical power systems in engineering/test environments. (e.g. power distribution/validation, system integration, electrical infrastructure, or similar).Preferred Qualifications:
Active Program Access(es)Extensive experience developing and executing System level test proceduresUnderstanding of Agile Test methodologyPrevious experience with System Level Lab Test Execution, test planning and coordination of eventsPrevious experience with 'hot bench' and overall lab operations supportUnderstanding of verification program and metrics maintenanceProficiency in Control Account Management (CAM)Experience with Teamcenter/CPLM isProficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or similar.Experience in designing or architecting avionics or aerospace electrical systems, including flight control computers, power systems, sensors, and communication systems.Primary Level Salary Range: $177,000.00 - $265,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
