The Lowe's Legal Department serves as an innovative, proactive and strategic business partner focused on accelerating profitable growth while protecting the Lowe's brand. The Staff Attorney serves
as a trusted business partner to provide legal consultation, advice, and practical solutions on day-to-day business activities, including routine policy and procedural improvements across several
business units. This role handles some matters independently and may provide input to support complex work. The Staff Attorney should have a working understanding of at least one area of law or
line of business.
What you will do
Serves as a trusted business partner and key point of contact for Director level stakeholders.
Applies legal and business knowledge to align stakeholders on mitigation strategies for business activities.
Provides broad-based, day to day legal support on common matters within functional areas, in some instances using existing templates or processes with some of customization required.
Performs legal tasks, which may include the review and negotiation of contracts, review and input on company policy and processes, handling and resolution of claims, or other duties related to the assigned practice group.
Supports senior lawyers on various matters by conducting legal research and proposing solutions on more complex matters.
Provides counsel on legal issues and mitigates legal risks by providing practical solutions to different business units.
Prepares and delivers trainings and memorandums for colleagues to present to business partners on routine legal matters. May co-present on complex legal matters with senior level attorneys.
Proactively identifies legal risks by assessing internal and external trends, including the regulatory environment and supports plans to mitigate and prevent future exposure.
Partners with outside counsel to gain expertise on a particular topic or on individual legal matters.
Collaborates and provides input on projects and supports colleagues across the department.
May take leadership roles by developing project plans and directing the work of others on legal department project and committees to drive engagement and/or operational efficiencies within the department.
Performs stretch assignments on an occasional basis, such as those that expand into new areas of the law, new clients, or projects.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Juris Doctorate Degree from an ABA accredited school
3-5 Years Practicing law in a law firm or in-house legal department
Ability to influence by translating legal risk to operational risk and practical solutions
Demonstrated legal writing skills
Able to translate legal speak into plain language
Patent lawyers must be admitted to the USPTO
