About the Role
As a Staff Accountant – Operations at Zekelman Industries (Atlas Tube), you will play a key role in leading day-to-day operational accounting activities for assigned manufacturing and company locations. This position supports accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and data-driven decision-making across operations. The role requires strong analytical and technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with operations, planning, and finance teams to support business performance and continuous improvement.
You will collaborate closely with plant operations, planning, and corporate finance partners, ensuring timely closes, accurate forecasts, and clear financial insights. This is an on-site role located in Harrow, Ontario, Canada.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a manufacturing environment, enjoys working with complex data, and takes ownership of processes while continuously improving accuracy and efficiency.
What You’ll Do
Lead the monthly financial close process for assigned companies, including journal entries, analysis, commentary, and reporting.
Record daily banking activity and complete reconciliations accurately and timely.
Prepare and complete monthly account reconciliations in accordance with established standards.
Complete Concur monthly journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned companies.
Calculate and analyze quarterly stockroom reserves for assigned operations.
Review and resolve GRIR balances and open accounts payable issues to maintain current records.
Prepare and distribute weekly spending reports to assigned company operations.
Review purchase requisitions to ensure accurate financial coding for assigned company codes.
Review weekly and monthly incentive calculations for assigned operations.
Monitor freight expense activity in automated systems to ensure timely processing.
Develop and maintain records for monthly internal audits of stockroom cycle counts.
Prepare quarterly forecast updates and maintain consolidated reporting models.
Support planning activities by monitoring aged master and slit coil inventory and assisting with disposition plans.
Manage intercompany cross-charges for assigned companies.
Lead the annual budget process for assigned operations and update consolidated reporting.
Support annual external audit activities as required.
Analyze cost-savings initiatives to quantify financial benefits.
Prepare ad hoc reporting to support operational and financial decision-making.
Attend operations meetings, track open items, maintain meeting minutes, and follow up on action items.
Develop and maintain procedural documentation for all aspects of the role.
Meet all required deadlines with completeness and accuracy.
Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
1+ years of experience in general ledger accounting, month-end close, and manufacturing accounting.
College or university degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Advanced Excel or spreadsheet skills; experience with SAP is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with solid accounting knowledge.
Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize findings for management.
Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Ability and willingness to travel within Canada or the United States as required.
Comfortable spending a significant portion of the workday using a personal computer.
Legally eligible to work in Canada.

This posting is for an existing vacancy.
Compensation: $70,000 - $85,500.CAD annually (base salary). Additional compensation may include benefits and discretionary incentives.
