Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Norwood, Massachusetts. In this role, you will play a vital part in managing financial processes, including general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting practices and a commitment to maintaining accuracy in financial records. Responsibilities: • Prepare and reconcile assigned general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness. • Process journal entries related to accrued expenses, fixed assets, and payroll transactions. • Reconcile multiple bank account statements and address discrepancies. • Review month-end variances against budget, prior month, and previous year to identify trends and issues. • Manage vendor accounts by entering, verifying, and reviewing accounts payable transactions. • Resolve discrepancies in purchase orders, invoices, or payments by collaborating with relevant departments and vendor representatives. • Ensure timely payments to suppliers and maintain accurate filing systems for accounts payable documentation. • Follow up on past-due customer payments and prepare bank deposits for cash receipts. • Research and establish new customer accounts, ensuring compliance with sales tax exemption requirements. • Support visitors by greeting them and following proper check-in procedures while maintaining office and plant supplies. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field. • Proficiency in processing journal entries and managing general ledger accounts. • Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures and variance analysis. • Experience with balance sheet account and bank reconciliations. • Familiarity with accounts payable processes, including vendor management and payment processing. • Ability to handle accounts receivable tasks, such as customer follow-ups and cash receipt entry. • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to ensure accuracy and efficiency. • Strong communication skills for interacting with vendors, customers, and internal teams.
