Description We are looking for a meticulous Staff Accountant to join a growing construction company in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial management, supporting operational processes, and maintaining project cost integrity. Ideal candidates will have hands-on accounting expertise and a deep understanding of job costing methodologies. Responsibilities: • Oversee daily accounting tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. • Monitor and manage job cost tracking, ensuring accurate cost allocation and financial reporting for projects. • Execute month-end processes such as journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and variance analyses. • Process subcontractor invoices, verify lien waivers, and ensure compliance with necessary documentation. • Prepare detailed financial reports for leadership, project managers, and other stakeholders. • Support budgeting and forecasting activities, including cash flow management and tracking. • Collaborate with project managers to address discrepancies and uphold cost accuracy across projects. • Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and industry practices. • Assist in audits, year-end reporting, and efforts to improve financial processes. • Contribute to revenue recognition schedules and other project-related financial activities. Requirements • Proficiency in corporate tax, including preparation and filing. • Strong knowledge of sales tax regulations and compliance. • Experience preparing corporate tax returns with attention to detail. • Expertise in journal entries and general ledger management. • Solid understanding of job costing principles and project-based accounting. • Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes. • Ability to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with project managers and leadership.
