Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join a non-profit organization in Seattle, Washington. This role requires an individual with strong attention to detail who can manage financial reporting, reconcile accounts, and collaborate effectively with various departments. The ideal candidate will bring their expertise in accounting and tax processes to support the organization's mission-driven goals. Responsibilities: • Collaborate with department leaders to plan, implement, and assess programs and services, ensuring clear and precise communication. • Provide support for donation and payment processing platforms, including campaign setup and reconciliation tasks. • Prepare monthly reconciliations for mission funds, confirm available disbursement amounts, and process wire transfers. • Manage financial reporting and accounting for investment portfolios, including endowment programs, ensuring accurate reconciliation and resolution of discrepancies. • Oversee financial activities related to the Charitable Gift Annuity Program, including ledger updates, portfolio assessment, and regulatory compliance reporting. • Assist the accounting team with cash receipt preparation and electronic applications for retreat center operations. • Provide backup support for general ledger entries, accounts receivable functions, and specialized financial reporting. • Administer the corporate credit card program, orienting staff on usage protocols and maintaining compliance. • Document and maintain detailed procedures for responsibilities, ensuring proper training and coverage. • Apply a focus on internal controls to enhance the integrity of accounting operations. The salary range for this position is $69,000 to $78,000. Benefits: Medical/Dental/Vision Life and AD& D insurance Long Term Disability 403b 2 weeks PTO 7 paid holidays Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • Proven experience in corporate tax processes, including sales tax and corporate tax returns. • Strong knowledge of journal entries and general ledger management. • Familiarity with donation processing and payment platforms. • Ability to reconcile accounts and prepare accurate financial reports. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. • Proficiency in financial software and tools. • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on maintaining internal controls.
