Staff Accountant

Responsibilities:

Perform account analysis and monthly reconciliations to ensure accuracy of general ledger balances.Prepare and post both recurring and non-recurring journal entries.Prepare supporting schedules for IRS Form 990 and other required tax documents.Assist with year-end audit preparation, including the creation of PBC (Prepared by Client) schedules and research of reconciliation discrepancies.Support the annual insurance renewal process, including premium allocation and invoice preparation.Maintain the fixed asset ledger, including acquisitions, disposals, depreciation, tagging, and physical location tracking.Perform month-end close activities related to fixed assets.Prepare monthly capital expenditure (CapEx) reports and spending plans.Ensure compliance with internal policies and federal regulations for assets purchased under direct sponsored projects.Evaluate and maintain Construction in Progress (CIP) projects, including annual fringe adjustments.Oversee property reports and ensure timely submission to federal agencies or sponsors.Maintain detailed records for equipment purchased through direct sponsor projects.Coordinate BI-Annual government inventories and annual reporting for insurance and audit purposes.Approve and document property sign-off at project closeouts.Process cash receipts, including entering deposits, posting batches, and reconciling daily/monthly activity.Research and resolve payment discrepancies.Manage online payment tracking and processing of incoming wire transfers.Process zero-dollar cash receipts as required.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of GAAP.Proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Strong organizational skills and ability to work under deadlines.Effective communication skills, both internal and external.Ability to work independently and as a positive team player.Bachelor's degree in Accounting.2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably with exposure to fixed assets, non-profit accounting, or grants.Exposure to Deltek Costpoint is a plus.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Experience in cost accounting, finance, and reconciliations.Experience with journal entries and managing multiple projects with deadlines.Not-for-profit experience is beneficial.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
