Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will assist with the month-end closing and financial reporting process, prepare and post journal entries, and analyze financial variances. You will also track fixed asset purchases/disposals, prepare business personal property tax returns, and support acquisition accounting.
Responsibilities
Assist with the month-end closing and financial reporting process.Prepare and post journal entries, including job revenue and cost recognition.Prepare monthly account reconciliations and analyze financial variances.Track fixed asset purchases/disposals and prepare business personal property tax returns.Reconcile unearned inspection and monitoring revenue.Review inventory transactions and identify purchase price variances.Support acquisition accounting and integration of newly acquired companies.Maintain and update Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules.Assist with audit preparation and work directly with external auditors.Provide backup support for payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.Perform ad-hoc analysis, reporting, and special projects as needed.Use good judgment to follow all company safety policies and procedures.Essential Skills
2+ years of accounting experience; public accounting experience preferred.Open to entry-level candidates with an Accounting degree.Familiarity with accounting software and financial reporting systems.Detail-oriented, analytical, and a proactive problem-solver.Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team.Proficiency in general ledger, journal entry, month end, and GAAP.Additional Skills & Qualifications
B.S. in Accounting.Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).Work Environment
This position is a fully onsite role located in Chesterfield, VA. The company is consistently growing through mergers and acquisitions, having acquired 11 companies this year alone.
