Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to assist with grant accounting and financial management within our organization. This role involves tracking expenditures, maintaining documentation, and ensuring compliance with funding guidelines under the direction of senior finance staff.
Responsibilities
+ Assist with grant accounting, including tracking expenditures, maintaining documentation, and ensuring compliance with funding guidelines.
+ Perform monthly general ledger account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
+ Reconcile corporate credit card transactions, ensuring proper coding, documentation, and approvals.
+ Support month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing journal entries and financial schedules.
+ Assist in preparing internal financial reports and conducting variance analysis.
+ Maintain accurate and organized financial records in accordance with accounting standards.
+ Process accounts payable and receivable transactions as needed, including invoice entry and billing support.
+ Collaborate with program and administrative staff to ensure proper allocation of expenses.
+ Respond to special requests and support ad hoc financial projects as assigned.
+ Participate in audits by preparing requested documentation and assisting with audit inquiries.
+ Contribute to process improvements and assist with system updates or transitions.
+ Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
+ Apply knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles where applicable.
+ Exhibit strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
+ Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
+ Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
+ Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
+ Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
+ Effective communication skills with internal teams and external partners.
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
+ 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in a nonprofit or grant-funded setting.
+ Non-profit experience is a significant advantage.
+ Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
+ Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

The position is based in an office setting with strong hybrid flexibility, providing an excellent opportunity to grow within the organization.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $31.25/hr.
