Staff Accountant
Staff Accountant (Insurance Industry Required) Job Description As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare journal entries for routine and complex transactions for posting into the general ledger in accordance with technical accounting standards and operational procedures. You will complete assigned responsibilities as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including the preparation of bank, investment, and other ledger account reconciliations, and performing analytical reviews of applicable ledger accounts. Additionally, you will prepare accurate financial reports, including components of financial statements and regulatory exhibits, and submit required reports in a timely manner for review. Responsibilities + Prepare journal entries of routine and complex transactions for the general ledger. + Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including account reconciliations. + Prepare accurate financial reports and submit them for supervisory review. + Document, update, and enhance accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance. + Collaborate with other departments to ensure data accuracy for transactions and support business initiatives. + Ensure financial operations meet processing and reporting standards and provide documentation for auditors and regulators. + Provide financial analysis and exhibits to support management decision-making. + Track progress of Financial Control Department objectives to align with company targets. Essential Skills + Accounting degree + Proficiency in accounting principles and preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations. + Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables. + Experience with Oracle JD Edwards ERP systems. + Ability to prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP and SAP. + Knowledge of insurance accounting and related policies and procedures. + Bilingual in English and Spanish Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in process documentation of accounting procedures and internal controls. + Familiarity with accounts payable and accounts receivable. + Strong analytical skills for financial analysis and account reconciliation. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
