Position Summary...

What you'll do...

About the Role:
We’re seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and evolution of our backend systems built on Node.js, Federated GraphQL, and cloud-native microservices. In this role, you’ll act as a technical leader, setting direction for cross-functional teams, solving complex architectural problems, and ensuring scalability, reliability, and developer efficiency across the platform.

Key Responsibilities:

Drive architectural decisions and long-term technical strategy for GraphQL APIs and microservices.

Lead the development and scaling of Federated GraphQL services using Apollo Federation or similar frameworks.

Guide teams in building robust, reusable, and well-documented services in Node.js.

Define and enforce engineering best practices in code quality, CI/CD, observability, and system resilience.

Partner with product, platform, and infrastructure teams to align technical solutions with business goals.

Mentor and coach senior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and growth.

Qualifications:

9+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in Node.js, GraphQL and React .

Proven track record architecting and deploying microservices at scale in a production cloud environment (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

Strong understanding of system design, distributed systems, caching strategies, and performance tuning.

Experience with containers (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and observability tooling (e.g., Prometheus, OpenTelemetry).

Ability to influence and drive consensus across engineering, product, and leadership teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in TypeScript and monorepo tooling (e.g., Nx, Turborepo).

Background in high-traffic, mission-critical systems such as eCommerce or SaaS platforms.

Contributions to open source or experience presenting at tech forums is a plus.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00
