About Team

As a staff engineer with the traffic foundation team, you'll help design, develop and support API gateway products that help Walmart be successful in delivering performant, robust web applications. The API gateway platform delivers policy driven solutions for traffic management, authentication, authorization, and API versioning.

What will you do

· Drive design, development, implementation and documentation

· Develop high-quality software design and architecture.

· Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda, set your priorities and deliver awesome products.

· Drive the success of the implementation by applying technical skills, to design and build enhanced processes and technical solutions in support of strategic initiatives.

· Work closely with the Architects and cross functional teams and follow established practices for the delivery of solutions meeting QCD (Quality, Cost & Delivery). Within the established architectural guidelines.

· Review code written by other team members or other teams.

What will you bring

· Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

· Minimum of 10 years of professional software engineering experience.

· Extensive experience in Java and Spring Boot

· Recent and relevant experience with open-source solutions such as Envoy, Kong, etc.

· Experience working with CDN, proxies and load balancers with an eye for latency optimization.

· Experience with version control systems like Git and with K8s and Docker or similar containerization and orchestration platforms.

· Strong knowledge and understanding of system design and distributed systems architecture and proven ability to contribute to architecture decisions.

· Excellent coding skills with a focus on quality, performance, scalability, and maintainability.

· Excellent issue triaging and trouble shooting skills to resolve critical production issues

· Proven experience in a fast-paced team environment, preferably working on mission critical and highly scalable product

· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.

· Demonstrated ownership mentality with the ability to take responsibility for projects from inception to completion, ensuring all aspects are completed to high standards.

· Familiarity with agile methodologies and experience with cloud computing platforms like Google Cloud, or Azure.

· Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.

· Ability to understand best practices regarding system security measures.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· Proven track record of learning new technologies and skills on the job and apply them to the current projects.

· Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting.

· Ability to handle on-call rotation and customer interaction.
