About Team:  
Enterprise Business Services - People Tech – People Data  

This position is in the People Data Platform engineering team under the Enterprise Business Services – People Tech organisation. The objective of the People tech organization is to build the best-in-class engineering, analytics and data science solutions that power the best experience for our people, adhering to the Walmart philosophy - Everyday Low Cost.  

  
What you'll do: 

People Data team is responsible to build and maintain People Data Lake platform and other analytical products to democratize access to People/HR data, enabling tech teams and business users across Walmart with relevant, complete, accurate and timely data by streamlining acquisition, curation and consumption of data from various HR systems. Our Team also builds and supports multiple use-cases on top of the Data Lake platform that focus on embedding analytical capabilities and recommendations into the organisation’s decision-making processes and workflows thereby increasing both the accessibility and actionability of people analytics.  

 

You will have numerous opportunities to collaborate with   

Product managers to design user journeys, feedback loop and analyse user telemetry.   

Data architects to design, architect, and build resilient, scalable, maintainable distributed data pipelines.  

Platform Product managers to develop technology strategies to advance our data management practices and stay abreast of the industry trends.  

Data Scientists and Machine learning engineers to help deploy, operate, and optimise scalable AL/ML solutions  

Technical Program Managers in developing and executing technical business programs of strategic importance to Walmart people data.  

 
What you'll bring: 

10+ years of extensive software development experience building distributed systems and data systems. 

Solid background in both object-oriented and event-driven systems, contributing to a skill set. 

Strong programming experience in Java and Scala for building robust and scalable applications. 

Proficiency in Spring Boot application development for efficient and maintainable back-end solutions. 

Familiarity with asynchronous technologies like Kafka, JMS, showcasing proficiency in event-driven system design. 

Strong commitment to comprehensive testing frameworks, ensuring robustness of developed solutions. 

Experience in analysing applications for performance degradation and devising effective plans for improvement. 

In-depth knowledge of SQL/No-SQL and various databases, including Oracle, Cosmos DB, ElasticSearch, Cassandra. 

Working experience with cloud technologies such as Azure, GCP, leveraging cloud services for scalable solutions. 

Strong aptitude for writing efficient and optimized code, contributing to overall software performance. 

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, emphasizing effective collaboration in a team environment.
