Job Title: SSHOJob Description

The SSHO is responsible for assisting in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities, as well as supervising and coordinating project emergency action procedures. This role involves developing and administering job site safety and environmental training, completing daily safety audits, and investigating property damage and personal injury incidents. The SSHO ensures project site compliance with safety regulations, documents all accidents and safety violations, and resolves problems related to safety standards. Additionally, the SSHO supports OSHA compliance officers and other safety inspectors during audits, monitors contractor compliance, maintains safety documents, and facilitates safety meetings.

ResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate project emergency action procedures, staffing, and training for contingency plans.Conduct daily project safety audits and investigate property damage and personal injuries.Ensure compliance with safety regulations and document accidents, violations, and unsafe conditions.Facilitate safety meetings and submit unplanned event forms for work-related injuries.Prepare written appeals for safety violation citations.Manage staff, provide evaluations and feedback, and address employee issues.Identify problems, analyze information, and consult with staff to ensure project success.Meet established goals while maintaining work quality and adhering to deadlines.Make timely and informed decisions, keeping stakeholders informed.Travel to project sites, typically in the South and Midwest.Essential Skills10+ years of experience in safety management on construction job sites.Current OSHA 30 and USACE EM 385-1-1 certification.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to manage rapidly changing priorities and maintain safety and quality.Valid driver's license and ability to operate a personal vehicle.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred.USACE/NAVFAC Construction Quality Management for Contractors certification preferred.Work Environment

The role requires working outdoors in extreme conditions such as cold, heat, and humidity on a regular basis. The position involves regular standing, climbing, bending, and stooping. The candidate must be willing and able to travel to various project sites, primarily located throughout the South and Midwest.

This is a Contract position based out of El Paso, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
