What is the opportunity?
The Reporting Analyst serves as the key subject matter expert and creator of customized performance analysis for UHNW and institutional clients of the Private Client Group at RBC USWM. The Reporting Analyst is responsible for collaborating with financial advisors and developing customized investment performance information, aggregating held away asset data, and compiling reports for the most sophisticated clients at RBC WM. The role is responsible for developing a deep understanding of RBC’s performance reporting application and implementing processes that will support advisors and clients while ensure appropriate supervisory review. This role will have significant interaction with Financial Advisors and may include limited interaction with end clients.
What will you do?
Build and maintain UHNW & Institutional (non-profit) report templates that are available firm-wide for all FAs and clientsCreate custom blended benchmarks for UHNW and institutional clientsEnsure the accuracy of investment performance data, including RBC portfolio, held away assets and benchmark informationCreate custom reports for UHNW/I clientsDevelop a process to aggregate held away accounts/assets via RBC’s performance reporting system and include them in performance calculations. Develop a process to collect and input valuations for hard assets (e.g., yachts, investment properties), and include them in reports for UHNW clients. Respond to requests for this functionality by creating transactions in the performance reporting system and incorporate assets to reportsDevelop and use a process to collect liability information from UHNW clients for Net Worth Statement reporting purposesAudit underlying performance records for accuracy and reasonablenessRespond to performance inquiries; provide performance supportConsistent delivery of accurate investment performance information to clients and advisorsClear articulation of primary drivers of investment returns to advisors, through attribution analysis and risk adjusted return metricsEffective working relationship with internal groups and operations to ensure accuracy and compliance with firm policiesWhat do you need to succeed?

Deep understanding of time weighted return calculations and impact of cash flows on performance calculationsAbility to reconcile performance calculationsFamiliarity with Wealth Management and experience in financial servicesTechnological skills – will need to become expert on performance reporting system’s functionality, including both the UI as well as reportingProcess-oriented – development and execution of processes, including ongoing data entry and managementSolution-oriented & creative problem solver – able to interface with FAs and potentially UHNW/institutional clients to understand what they are trying to achieve, and to build a report that meets the need or suggest alternativesSeries 7, 65/66BA/BS in business, finance, or marketing with 3+ years securities or financial markets experienceUnderstanding of fundamental performance measurement concepts – e.g., time weighted returns, IRR, attribution analysisDetail and process orientedAbility to manage and prioritize multiple tasksAbility to work in a fast-paced and changing professional environmentWillingness to aggressively learn new skills in a short period of timeStrong analytical skills needed to understand data inputs and outputs, and identify anomaliesExcellent verbal, written and presentation skillsExperience and comfort collaborating with Financial Advisors and external clients; service orientationStrong customer service orientationNice-to-have
