Client Staffing Solutions
SENIOR TAX ACCOUNTANT - TRUST
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Our client is a small CPA firm with a 50 year history of working with organizations and individuals here in central Ohio. Their reputation for trust and performance has helped them retain clients for decades.
Within the firm, the individual who is expert in trusts is planning on retirement in the upcoming year, and the Managing Partners have asked us to help them hire an individual to take their place as their trust business continues to grow. Some of the typical activity around trusts include: Reading trust documents to determine how trust is driven, beneficiaries, tax considerations. Collaborating with Trustees and Attorneys. Consulting with clients to ensure the trust is set up and taxed appropriately. Prepare returns with trust income, primarily the first year setup. Review the work of others that prepare returns with trusts.
WHY THIS ONE:
What's different about this one? It's culture and environment. We've helped this firm hire seven people over the past 7 years. They are all still there, and give their thoughts: "There's no politics here. Everyone is open and honest, no pretenses, and no games." "The Managing Partner sits just down the hall, and I see him all the time. His door's always open and I can just walk in and talk about a situation or ask a question." "It's a real family-oriented company. If I need to take my kid to the doctor, I can do it and adjust my hours without being made to feel guilty about it." "I came from a large firm where it was all about your boss making partner. Here, there are no ego’s - we all work as a team to help each other." "We do all sorts of team and community things, like charity golf outings and helping our not for profit clients with their events and initiatives." The professionals we have helped them hire love it and stay, and that speaks volumes. WHAT IT TAKES: A passion for Tax Accounting and at least 6 years of relevant experience. Specific knowledge and experience in the taxation of trusts, particularly the ability to consult with clients on tax considerations as they establish trusts. A degree in Accounting, with graduate degree a plus. Active CPA status is not required but a plus. Experience as a Sr. Tax Accountant, specifically in working with and supporting small businesses and high wealth individuals. Experience reviewing returns done by other staff, coaching on complex tax scenarios, particularly those related to trust. Understanding and experience in tax accounting in the following areas is a plus: Partnerships - Mid level depth in taxation for partnerships. Familiarity with capital intensive businesses (real estate / construction) is a plus. A good understanding and experience with various forms of partnerships and tax implications. Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills are key to success. Experience working with CFO’s, Controllers, and other financial executives. Adept at common software like UltraTax, QuickBooks, RIA, and Excel. Benefits and compensation are solid.
