**About the Role** The Safety team uses real-time telematics and motion sensing technologies along with multi-faceted machine learning algorithms and user-facing mobile products to reduce and prevent unsafe driving and behavior on the Uber platform. Our work touches all parts of the Uber experience from dispatch to on-trip and post-trip, as well as Uber's entire ecosystem ranging from our rides business to other newer Uber marketplaces, and ventures. We are looking for a Sr. Staff Mobile Engineer to lead our mobile architecture for Safety products. **What You Will Do** - **Set Technical Strategy:** Define and drive engineering best practices and mobile architecture across the entire company, not just the Safety org. You will evangelize technologies and their appropriate application across organizations. - **Innovate at Scale:** Build technical designs that introduce step-function innovation in telematics and mobile sensing. You will identify and reconcile architectural gaps to reduce complexity and increase developer velocity across multiple organizations. - **Lead from the Front:** Act as a technical brand ambassador for Uber by publishing whitepapers, patents, or presenting at key technical conferences. - **Orchestrate Transformation:** Get alignment and buy-in to orchestrate Uber-wide technology transformations, working efficiently across multiple job functions and organizations. - **Raise the Bar:** Inspire and rally engineers across Uber to deliver on the technical vision, making intelligent bets on high-impact innovations while using good judgment to fail fast when necessary. **Basic Qualifications** - 10+ years of mobile engineering experience with specific expertise in high-scale iOS development. - Expertise in Swift and Objective-C with a deep understanding of iOS SDKs, MVVM/MVC patterns, and mobile architecture. - Demonstrated experience leading architectural decisions for large-scale distributed systems or mobile ecosystems. - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. **Preferred Qualifications** - 12+ years of mobile engineering experience with a track record of building long-lasting engineering artifacts that improve reliability and efficiency. - Strategic Leadership **:** Proven ability to influence the right engineering organizational design to align with long-term technical direction. - Cross-Platform Context **:** Familiarity with both iOS and Android development (Kotlin/Java) to facilitate cross-platform architectural alignment. - Experience working with distributed teams and large-scale consumer-facing products (10k+ employees).
