TD Securities US Finance is a part of the wider TD Securities Finance group, as one of the three regional finance groups for the Wholesale Banking segment of TD Bank Group it has a key role in the USA providing support in financial, management and regulatory reporting. In addition, by its nature as a primary control and support group in the region, TDS Finance USA provides business information supporting projects and initiatives often as the liaison with the other groups and segments both in the US and Canada but also with the other regions (UK and Singapore).

TD Securities is looking for a highly motivated, skilled and technology savvy individual to join its US Wholesale Controllers group within US Finance in New York City. The successful candidate will participate in the month close and consolidation for the US Wholesale division. Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Assist in the month end close for multiple legal entities and the US Wholesale consolidation process in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS. Including preparation of elimination entries, equity roll forwards and variance analytics.

Assisting with preparation, analysis, and proper documentation of monthly accounting entries.

Adherence with firm's account reconciliation and attestation policy, including liaising with Operations & Reconciliation Control teams to resolve issues.

Assist with external and internal audit requests including preparation of reconciliations, organizing documents and responding to inquiries.

Prepare and assist with disclosures on quarterly/annual basis and other reporting obligations.

Assist with preparation of various financial reporting packages prepared for both internal and external partners. Coordinate commentary and reviews across finance teams to ensure timely completion.

Maintenance of the subledger to general ledger mapping logic. Liaising with Product Control and Operations to ensure changes are appropriately applied/tested. Chart of accounts management and mapping

Perform subledgers and GL reconciliation. Research issues when they occur and liaise with teams across TDS to resolve issues quickly.

Improve data accuracy and support data-driven decision-making.

Maintain strong internal controls and keep process documentation up-to-date.

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Accounting

5+ years post-undergraduate experience in public accounting and/or financial services

Organized, detail oriented and self-motivated individual with strong analytical skills

Good understanding of accounting principles and GAAP as well as IFRS

Understanding of public company Sarbanes-Oxley controls and importance of adherence to them

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and various automation tools and resources (Power BI, Alteryx, Power query, pivot tables, advanced formulas) a plus

Ability to work within deadlines while still providing a high-quality work product.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Highly motivated individual with a proven track record to deliver results.

A fluid, intuitive, and logical thinker with a high level of curiosity to learn and interest in determining and implementing process improvements.

Demonstrated time management and organizational skills to meet tight deadlines as well as flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

The Sr. Specialized Finance Analyst, TDS performs a variety of specialized finance functions in a particular finance area(s) with a high level of technical knowledge to give detailed and well-informed opinions of assigned business activities.

Education & Experience:

Undergraduate degree and/or

5+ years of relevant experience preferred

Accounting, financial or relevant professional designation preferred

Customer Accountabilities:

Specializes in particular areas according to established policies and procedures and applicable legal and regulatory guidelines

Provides ongoing, proactive, specialized finance advice and counsel to business partners to ensure they are operating efficiently under applicable accounting rules and regulations

Communicates and meets regularly with partners to develop an in-depth understanding of their business and to provide accounting/ taxation insight, knowledge and expertise, such as improving accounting process flows or clarifying income and expense recognition practices 

Recognizes, identifies and investigates business accounting issues that need attention, research as needed, offer specialized opinions based on research and knowledge and resolve problems 

Responds to accounting-related requests on a timely basis and answers questions as needed. 

Provides technical guidance and assist staff with most complex aspects of work as necessary 

Resolves escalated issues and problems by conferring with peers, other internal departments, outside contacts and others as necessary 

Ensures monthly recording of income, expense and other financial transactions is accurate and timely 

Researches and determines proper accounting treatment for new products and services as needed and communicate complete, thorough and accurate accounting requirements; considers and explains risk management issues prior to implementation, such as determining how the accounting of new initiatives will be monitored and controlled

Performs a variety of activities related to month-end financial closing, which details the Bank's month-to-month financial condition, and/or completion of regulatory reports

Reviews monthly financial activity and ensures transactions are appropriately recorded in proper accounts, such as cost capitalizing vs. expensing.  Researches discrepancies and makes corrections and updates as necessary
