DescriptionThis is a critical role within Emory’s Solutions Architecture practice. The Solutions Architect serves as a key technical leader responsible for evaluating new vendor technologies and ensuring they can be effectively integrated into the Emory technology ecosystem. The architect performs comprehensive due diligence on new solutions, assessing technical fit, operational impact, and compliance with security, AI, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technology Evaluation & Due DiligenceAssess new vendor platforms, applications, and emerging technologies for suitability within the Emory environment.Conduct in‑depth technical and architectural reviews to validate integration feasibility and adherence to Emory standards.Architecture DevelopmentProduce clear and complete current‑state and future‑state architectural models.Design integrated solutions that align with enterprise architecture principles and are compatible with the Emory technology stack.Present the solution intent to the Architecture Review Board for approval.Risk, Compliance & Regulatory AlignmentCollaborate with the information security team to perform comprehensive risk analysis on new solutions, including security, privacy, interoperability, and operational risks.Work with internal stakeholders to ensure adherence to HIPAA, security policies, enterprise AI governance, and healthcare regulations.Business Continuity & ResilienceAssist customers and project teams in completing the Disaster Recovery (DR) Scoring Matrix.Ensure solutions support Emory’s business continuity and resilience requirements.Cross‑Functional CollaborationPartner with security, AI governance, infrastructure, data, and application teams throughout the evaluation and implementation lifecycle.Serve as a trusted advisor and technical translator for stakeholders across technical and non‑technical domains.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Proficiency in architecting solutions using cloud platforms (Azure preferred), Epic, and HL7 routing engines such as Corepoint.Proven track record of producing solutions that align with enterprise objectives in the healthcare industry.Operates with sound judgement utilizing a risk based approach.Ability to drive decisions forward.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or related field.Minimum 8 years in a related IT or Engineering disciplineMinimum of 1 year of experience in the healthcare industry.Deep understanding of healthcare industry standards and regulations, such as HIPAA, HL7, DICOM, and FHIR.Proficiency in architecting solutions using cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and familiarity with healthcare-specific cloud services.Experience with healthcare information systems, such as Electronic Health Records (EHR), Health Information Exchanges (HIE), and Population Health Management (PHM) platforms.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Proven track record of successfully delivering complex IT projects on time and within budget.
