AI can "Do Anything Now", and with great power comes great responsibility. Alexa Security team provides security engineering support for next-gen product builders, and uses both AI and traditional methods to accomplish that mission.
Key job responsibilities
As a Senior Security Engineer, you will influence across organizations and drive secure solutions within Alexa and other AI products. You will work with developers, scientists, and product leaders to deliver magical experiences to customers, while maintaining customer trust.
You identify key areas of impact, and drive security improvements across a large organization. You evaluate and prioritize risk effectively, and communicate your work to product leaders at all levels.
Invent and improve security controls for internal and external products; including Alexa. You leverage traditional security approaches, and utilize newer AI approaches when appropriate.
You are self driven, and identify both problems and solutions independently.
You mentor junior engineers to deliver security outcomes. You devise training, runbooks, policy, and other artifacts. You review security artifacts and help guide improvements.
You are skilled at identification of vulnerabilities through code review or pentesting. You may create proof-of-concepts for vulnerabilities or new defenses.
A day in the life
We're largely a traditional security team, with some additional AI specific activities.
The product teams are our primary stakeholders. You often will consult on projects. You identify potential risks and mitigations. If an appropriate solution doesn't exist, you propose a new one. You drive long-term security outcomes. You learn details of AI systems, and design solutions that mitigate pitfalls.
You advocate for the end-customer, so we can launch quality products built with security from the ground up.
You incorporate AI tools into your workflows to increase efficiency without sacrificing quality.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 5 years of experience in security engineering in the context of large organizations
- In-depth understanding of security threats, hands on experience detecting and defending cyber threats
- Ability to develop code with at least one modern language such as Java, Go, TypeScript, Python, Rust and security code review.
- Demonstrated technical leadership in security (e.g. tech lead, developed security architecture for a product or system, led technical component of security project, etc.)
- Experience leading and coaching junior security engineers to improve their skills and effectiveness
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in novel security research, such as CVEs, Bug Bounty, or academic papers
- Experience with common cloud services (IAM, Lambda, EC2, S3) for security automation
- Experience with data science, big data analytics, cloud telemetry
- Experience with GenAI models and tool-using applications, including MCP, or other frameworks

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
