**Description** The Cardiovascular-Renal-Metabolic Diseases Research (CRMDR) team in Ridgefield, CT has delivered numerous first-in-class therapeutics into clinical development in the last decade in disease areas spanning Chronic Kidney Disease, Liver Cirrhosis, and Portal Hypertension. The Translational Pharmacology group within Cardiovascular-Renal-Metabolic Diseases Research (CRMDR) is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented **Senior Scientist** to join our team in Ridgefield, CT. The qualified candidate will lead **in vivo research** efforts focusing on techniques and studies that elucidate **cardiovascular function** using preclinical models spanning kidney, heart, liver, and metabolic disease. This is a hands-on, lab-based position requiring candidates to have in-depth technical knowledge to lead science in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary research environment. Our competitive compensation and benefit programs reflect Boehringer Ingelheim's high regard for our employees. **Duties & Responsibilities** + Independently design and perform scientific experiments, including implementing new and innovative methodologies (e.g. echocardiography) to enable drug discovery projects + Build in vivo models and technical capabilities of cardiorenal & metabolic diseases reflecting human disease pathology and progression; focus on the cardiometabolic aspects of CKD with potential integration into pre-clinical models of MASH, Cirrhosis, or Obesity + Oversee experimental design and results of junior scientists; assume additional responsibilities including mentoring and developing scientific staff + Communicate scientific results orally and in writing at internal and external meetings, leadership discussions, and global alignment meetings + Stay current with relevant scientific literature and maintain visibility outside the functional area + Maintain compliance with regulatory SOPs and IACUC procedures with high level of scientific and data integrity + Substantial hands-on benchwork is expected + This position requires moderate physical activity to complete work in the vivarium and laboratory. This includes but is not limited to standing for extended durations (>2 hours), working under a biosafety hood/cabinet for extended durations (>2 hours), bending, lifting (up to 20 lbs), squatting, pushing/pulling, and reaching. This is in addition to handling and restraint of small laboratory animals (rats, mice; >50 at a time) daily and often within a specified timeframe + This position required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including respiratory, eye, hand, and foot protection **Requirements** + Ph.D. Degree in Cardiovascular Disease, Pharmacology, Physiology, or equivalent experience in a related field + Proven track record performing rodent cardiovascular techniques, including echocardiography + Proven ability to develop, execute, and troubleshoot in vivo pharmacology models + Ability to problem-solve with scientific curiosity + Effective communicator (oral & written) and team player + Willingness to support weekend in vivo work as needed + Advanced skillset for in vivo techniques including detailed theoretical and hands-on experience using advanced small animal echocardiography and ability to integrate PK/TE/PD concepts + Proven track record to develop and execute in vivo pharmacology models, with emphasis in renal and/or cardiovascular disease research + Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and collaborate with junior scientists effectively in a matrixed and culturally diverse environment + Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail + Ability to prioritize efforts and multi-task to deliver on overlapping commitments + Effective communication, both orally and in writing, within an interdisciplinary environment + History of high-quality peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and/or presentations at scientific conferences **Compensation:**  This position, Senior Scientist, offers a base salary typically between $140,000.00 and $222,000.00.  The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
