Sr. Project Manager
Project Manager – Industrial / Chemical Plant Projects Type: Full-Time | Capital Projects | Expert Level About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead capital and improvement projects at a large industrial/chemical plant. This role oversees the full project lifecycle—from concept development through commissioning—and requires strong engineering knowledge, project leadership, and cross‑functional coordination. You will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, EHS, and outside contractors to deliver safe, efficient, and cost‑effective plant upgrades and expansions. What You’ll Do + Manage projects through all phases: scope development, design, estimating, scheduling, construction, commissioning, and startup. + Develop and define project scopes in partnership with operations leaders and technical teams. + Apply industry‑standard engineering and construction practices to support plant reliability and safe operations. + Lead day‑to‑day project execution including planning, permitting, scheduling, and LOTO compliance. + Conduct field checks, oversee installation quality, and ensure work meets plant standards. + Coordinate cross‑functional teams and maintain transparent communication with site leadership. + Track budgets, forecasts, spending, progress, and schedule performance. + Manage contractors, reinforce safe work practices, and ensure proper documentation. + Review on‑site work, authorize scope adjustments, and ensure alignment with project goals. + Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with federal/state regulations. + Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership. What You Bring + Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. + Strong background in industrial or chemical plant projects, including project engineering or project management. + Familiarity with PSM (Process Safety Management) workflows and practices. + Understanding of stage-gate project processes, PMI/CII standards, and engineering best practices. + Experience collaborating with EHS, operations, maintenance, and engineering teams. + Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, project plans, and technical documents. + Strong organizational skills with the ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously. + Experience with SAP project, maintenance, or purchasing transactions is a plus. + Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving abilities. Preferred background + Previous experience in chemical processing, oil & gas, or other high‑hazard industrial environments. + Experience working with outside engineering firms and construction contractors. + Knowledge of permitting, LOTO, and construction safety procedures. + Professional certifications (PMP, etc.) are a plus. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Waterford, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
