Amazon’s Strategic Planning Team (SPT) is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Senior Program Manager (Sr. PM) with a strong background in communications, capable of providing program management support in a fast paced and highly ambiguous environment.
- As a Program Manager, you will manage and support multiple initiatives simultaneously while working quickly to deliver results.
- You must be a highly-effective communicator, capable of leading meetings, owning recaps and tracking milestones to pull work forward.
- You will be responsible for creating a robust strategic and labor/resource plan for a large organization (Global Engineering Services (GES), Central Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (cRME), and Global Energy, Sustainability & Automation (GESA)).
- You will conduct data analysis to identify recurring issues and implement significant process improvement projects within the team and larger business function.
Key job responsibilities
1. Strategic Planning: Coordinate and prepare materials for regular planning cycle reviews (OP1, OP2, 3YF and SPS) with Leadership. Ensure all relevant data and metrics are collected and analyzed. Facilitate review meetings and follow up on action items with the organization.
2. Resource Management: Manage resource planning efforts for GES, CRME, and GESA. Partner closely with Finance and leadership ensuring the organization is resourced effectively and operating within strategic and financial guardrails.
3. Oversee unified resourcing process flows & use of tools in close partnership with Project Management Office (PMO) and Global Engineering Insights & Software Tools (GEIST).
4. Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with various stakeholders across GES, CRME and GESA and other departments (including Finance, Tech teams). Coordinate deep dive and alignment sessions. Engage senior stakeholders/managers and regularly update them on the progress of key projects and planning cycles.
5. Continuous Improvement: Propose and implement process improvements for strategic planning and resource management. Drive adoption of new tools and methodologies to enhance the processes.
6. Cross-Horizontal Support and Ad Hoc Requests: Provide support across various horizontal teams within the organization. Collaborate with different departments to ensure alignment on strategic initiatives. Respond to and manage ad hoc requests from leadership and stakeholders. Adapt quickly to changing priorities and organizational needs. Assist in special projects and initiatives as required.

A day in the life
As a Senior Program Manager in Amazon's Strategic Planning Team, your day revolves around orchestrating multiple high-impact initiatives across Global Engineering Services, Central RME, and GESA organizations. Your day typically begins with reviewing key metrics and preparing for strategic planning meetings, where you'll lead discussions on resource allocation and operational priorities. Throughout the day, you'll navigate between analyzing data in Excel and BI tools to identify optimization opportunities, collaborating with Finance on resource planning, and engaging with senior stakeholders to drive alignment on critical projects. You'll spend time coordinating with the PMO and GEIST teams to streamline processes, while maintaining real-time tracking of various program milestones. The role requires agile prioritization as you respond to leadership requests, facilitate cross-functional working sessions, and ensure strategic planning cycles stay on track. Your ability to synthesize complex information, influence diverse stakeholders, and drive operational excellence makes every day both challenging and impactful in shaping Amazon's operations.
About the team
The Strategic Planning Team (OPT) is a newly formed team, designed to enhance synergy and operational efficiency across the diverse Global Engineering Services (GES), Central Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (cRME), and Global Energy, Sustainability & Automation (GESA) organization. The team will drive operational excellence and strategic alignment, through planning, business operations, cross-functional collaboration.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in program or project management
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
- Experience leading process improvements
- Previous experience in Global Engineering Services (GES), Central Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (cRME), and Global Energy, Sustainability & Automation (GESA) organization is a plus.
