Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Lead Engineer to support the Tactical Space Systems Division in their integration, deployment, and sustainment of space vehicles. This position is located onsite on our Chantilly, VA campus.
The Phoenix Space Segment Integration team is responsible for the integration of a heterogeneous set of Space Vehicles (SVs) to support the Phoenix missions. Phoenix is an NG TSSD Space Security business unit program that develops and delivers a ground system and provides SEIT functions to ensure success of the Phoenix program. This role requires working with the Phoenix team to ensure that the SVs are onboarded into the Phoenix ground system, and ground system capabilities required to perform the SV mission are identified.
This role integrates information from across the Phoenix Family of Systems, and from within Phoenix execution (e.g. ground readiness, system test readiness, operations readiness) to communicate to the Phoenix stakeholders (Government and contractors) the readiness to execute planned launches, as well launch/activation and on orbit execution.
Space Vehicles integrated into the Phoenix ground system include NG TSSD product line Space Vehicles as well as external providers. The Phoenix program is executed by a cross-division team across TSSD, SSSD, PGSD. We are seeking a candidate who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
This position requires being onsite and does not support remote work.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversight and assessment of the heterogeneous SVs across each launch, working closely with US Government acquisition personnel, and acting as the primary point of contact between the Phoenix program and the SV contractor
Management of the integrated Critical Path (IMS), Risk Management, and leading trades for customer concurrence to preserve launch dates and mission performance
Attending reviews and providing recommendations throughout the Space Vehicle lifecycle.
Coordination of the Phoenix operations team’s insight into data delivery required for activation & operations
Elevating any SV issues that may affect Phoenix program or technical performance for review & disposition
Supporting the customer in integrating and providing status on content for Mission Readiness Review and Consent to Fuel reviews at the system level.
This role is external-facing with frequent management and customer interaction. Strong presentation and communication skills are required.

Basic Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) field with 8 years of experience or a Master’s with 6 years of experience
Demonstrated mission integration & systems engineering experience
Experience working across organization boundaries to achieve success
Demonstrated experience in technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and monitoring
Understanding of spacecraft detailed design, integration & test
Must have US Citizenship with active or current DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance at time of application.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Integration, Test, Launch, and Operations of spacecraft systems
Technical experience in systems engineering and integration of complex systems, including space systems development, manufacture, test, or operations, including previous technical or project leadership positions.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
