Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems have an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal Software Integration & Test Engineer to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Located in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is crucial in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial component of the Missile Defense System. It provides a vital operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively manage networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives.

C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It functions as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to improve overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a critical component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.

Essential Functions:

Installation and configuration of Linux and Windows hardware platforms, from the operating system up to the C2BMC-developed applicationsDocument and verify all installation and configuration steps in the documentation to be delivered to the customerDevelop installation scripts to automate system setupCreate test plans and procedures for software integration testing, oversee the integration/execution, conduct detailed data analysis, and prepare software test reportsCoordinate the execution of software integration tests to verify system operationCollaborate with software developers as needed to help diagnose and identify the root cause of problems encountered during software integrationSubmit problem reports for errors identifiedResponsible for implementing all Information Assurance directives on the systems, including running IA scansManage and coordinate daily integration activities with other local team members

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree and 6 years experience, or a PhD and 4 years of experience, or 12 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to startApplicants must have a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.), which is required to startWillingness and ability to travel up to 10% to support business needsRequires experience in integrating separate software components into a single systemStrong technical skills in the following are required:Experience with Linux and Windows system administration, including installing and configuring systems from the OS level upExperience with VMWare systems administration and installationExperience with Information Assurance policies and procedures, and the ability to apply IA requirements to an existing systemExperience with scripting and automation technologiesExperience with Git

Preferred Qualifications:

Hands-on experience with automated test toolsAbility to read and troubleshoot application source codeFamiliarity with Java and object-oriented development is a plusAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changeKnowledge or expertise in the C2BMC concept of operations and user interface is preferredExperience in writing installation manualsMust be able to produce precise, concise system installation and setup instructionsStrong communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with software developers, system administrators, and analysis and test engineers

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,200.00 - $154,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
