Job Description
As a Senior Manager, Insurance, you’ll be part of the mortgage operations organization that powers a seamless, end‑to‑end home financing experience for our customers. Our team plays a critical role in company mission to make it easier to move by simplifying how customers buy and finance their homes. The Insurance team ensures that every loan we originate is supported by accurate, compliant, and timely homeowners’ insurance documentation, enabling on‑time closings and protecting both our customers and investors. You’ll collaborate closely with Underwriting, Processing, Closing, Capital Markets, and our growing India operations to streamline insurance workflows and remove friction from the customer and partner experience. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for building and leading the Insurance operations function, with particular focus on scaling our India-based Insurance Specialist team and aligning it to US business needs. You will own people leadership, operational strategy, and continuous improvement for all insurance-related processes that support the mortgage lifecycle—from quote review and coverage verification through policy changes and renewals impacting funded loans. Reporting into a senior operations leader, you will lead a team that handles high-volume, detail-intensive work, ensuring insurance requirements are met accurately and on time. You’ll design and refine processes, implement quality controls, and use data to drive performance across quality, speed, and customer/partner satisfaction. Skills and Requirements
5-7+ years in mortgage operations, homeowners’ insurance operations, or a closely related function, including 2+ years managing teams in a high-volume, process-driven environment
Deep understanding of homeowners’ insurance in the context of mortgage lending, including typical coverage requirements, common exceptions, and how insurance interacts with underwriting, closing, and investor expectations
Proven track record using data and KPIs (e.g., turnaround times, work queue aging, exception rates, audit findings, escalations) to manage day‑to‑day operations and drive continuous improvement
Strong people leader and coach who builds trust, sets clear expectations, runs effective 1:1s and team meetings, and invests in the development of individual contributors and supervisors/leads
Capable of aligning India‑based teams with US leadership and keeping teams focused on common outcomes
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to translate operational details into clear updates and recommendations for senior leaders and cross‑functional partners
Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and build new processes, particularly in fast‑changing or growth environments where policies, products, and volumes evolve quickly
Familiarity with mortgage LOS/POS systems and tools used for insurance ordering and tracking; able to quickly learn new tools and help drive adoption across the team
Passionate about operational excellence, risk management, and customer experience, and energized by designing scalable, repeatable processes that reduce friction for customers and internal partners Prior experience standing up, centralizing, or offshoring insurance or post‑closing operations, with a focus on control, quality, and scalability
Direct experience managing homeowners’ insurance workflows inside a mortgage lender, servicer, or insurance operations center (e.g., evidence of insurance validation, HOI curative work, hazard/flood insurance requirements)
Knowledge of US mortgage regulations and investor/insurer guidelines that impact insurance (e.g., flood requirements, hazard coverage minimums, escrow implications)
Experience working in a FinTech or high-growth environment where operational processes and technology are frequently iterated and improved
