Job Summary
Lowe's Forecasting team is seeking a motivated Sr Manager – Data Scientist (Forecasting). The primary purpose of the Sr Manager, Data Science is to manage a team of data science professionals in the development of data science initiatives. This position works to ensure the alignment, buy-in, and support of diverse stakeholders in driving data science offerings. Finally, the Sr Manager, Data Science manages the full lifecycle of data science projects from inception to completion with full adherence to enterprise product and project management practices.
You will build and deploy state of the art predictive models for use cases such as item-location demand forecast, labor & truck planning, inventory management, supply chain optimization, financial expense prediction. What You Will Do
Guides team through the application of advanced data science, machine learning (ML), and deep learning (DL) algorithms necessary to derive insights and develop solutions on enterprise-scale providing a competitive advantage to the business.
Provides resource allocation and optimization recommendations to inform business planning and ensures deliverables on high-quality insights.
Identifies and foresees technical, business, and execution risks in projects and takes action to mitigate them.
Collaborates with cross-functional groups, stakeholders, and senior leadership to ensure alignment and understand business needs to deliver actionable insights for ways to more effectively capitalize on new and existing consumers.
Maintains high-level knowledge on industry trends and emerging technologies. Leads research initiatives to explore the potential application of these trends and emerging technologies in the home improvement domain.
Prepares final recommendations through effective storytelling and actionable insights for the relevant stakeholders and executive leaders, ensuring solutions are implementable and scalable in the business.
Leads a team in support of achieving the company’s mission. Manages performance and fosters an inclusive environment to help associates achieve their potential.
Minimum Qualifications
8 years of experience executing and deploying data science, ML, DL, and generative AI solutions, preferably in a large-scale enterprise setting (fewer years may be accepted with a master’s or doctorate degree)
6 years of project management experience (fewer years may be accepted with a master's or doctorate degree)
5 years of experience working with cross-functional partners
3 years of experience leading project or technical teams with or without formal direct report responsibility; this includes experience providing technical direction, thought leadership, coaching and mentoring to team members
Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, economics, engineering, computer science, data or information science, or related quantitative analytic field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree)
Preferred Skills/Education
Doctorate Degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, economics, engineering, computer science, data or information science, or related quantitative analytic field
8 years of project management experience
5 years of leadership experience managing global team(s) in a retail environment
5 years of programming experience and experience using multiple data systems and sources
