Key job responsibilities * Lead team to use AI, machine learning and statistical techniques to create the next generation of the agentic tools that empower Amazon's Selling Partners to succeed. * Design, develop and deploy highly innovative AI models to interact with Sellers and delight them with solutions. * Guide teams of scientists and software engineers to drive real-time model implementations and deliver novel and highly impactful features. * Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation and model implementation. * Lead research program to implement novel machine learning and statistical approaches. * Lead strategic initiatives to employ the most recent advances in AI in a fast-paced, experimental environment. * Drive the vision and roadmap for how ML can continually improve Selling Partner experience. * Represent the team as a science leader across Amazon and in public settings. Basic Qualifications * PhD or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. * 4+ years experience of managing successful teams. * 7+ years industry experience building successful production science systems. * Experience with machine learning technologies, Deep Learning, large language models (LLMs), information retrieval and/or related applications. * Experience communicating with executives and non-technical leaders. * Strong Computer Science fundamentals in data structures, algorithm design, and statistics. * Ability to map business problems to appropriate science solutions. Preferred Qualifications * Advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related quantitative field. * Published research work in academic conferences or industry circles. * Experience in building large-scale machine-learning models and infrastructure for business applications. * Effective verbal and written communication skills with non-technical and technical audiences. * Experience working with large real-world data sets and building scalable models from big data. * Exhibits excellent business judgment; balances business, product, and technology very well. * Experience in developing agentic AI systems. The base pay for this position ranges from $196,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $340,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
