This role is responsible for designing, developing, and effectively executing programs and policies to support the strategy and vision for achieving World Class Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Performance. The position involves active participation in planning, EHS governance, auditing, management systems, best practice sharing, and compliance initiatives.
Responsibilities
+ Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policies, including Hazard Communication, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Machine Guarding, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Electrical Safety, Arc Flash, Robot Safety, and Crane Safety.
+ Prepare and submit compliance reports for federal, state, and local entities, customers, and the parent company.
+ Establish goals, objectives, metrics, and scorecards to assure the EHS function's effectiveness.
+ Evaluate the effectiveness of Environmental, Health and Safety Programs and implement best practices.
+ Conduct injury, illness, and near-miss investigations using root cause analysis to develop corrective action plans.
+ Ensure permit compliance for air and water.
+ Administer associate personal protective equipment programs, including safety eyeglasses and safety shoes.
+ Lead hazardous waste management and disposal activities.
+ Develop and implement a facility-wide ergonomics program.
+ Lead and implement Carbon Neutrality projects, data collection activities, and reporting of sustainability efforts.
+ Coordinate the SDS Program for materials used, received, and/or processed at the facility.
+ Develop, implement, and test emergency action plans and procedures, including fire evacuation, severe weather, and chemical spills.
+ Assess potential environmental risks and provide mitigation plans to reduce incidents.
+ Develop pollution and waste control programs.
+ Evaluate hazards for environment, health, and safety risks and ensure the development of Job Hazard Analyses for defined tasks.
+ Manage Workers’ Compensation claims in coordination with the company contracted TPA, the Ohio BWC, and legal counsel.
+ Ensure contractor personnel working at locations comply with OSHA regulations and company requirements.
+ Conduct EHS meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, and identify corrective action opportunities.
+ Review and update SPCC plans as needed.
+ Develop and conduct effective EHS training.
+ Perform risk assessments with all departments to determine potential hazards, environmental impacts, regulatory requirements, and conformance with recognized industry standards (ANSI, NFPA, ACGIH, RIA, etc.) for all new and changing processes and projects.
+ Conduct field inspections, including stormwater, spill prevention, and other environmental compliances.
+ Maintain accurate EHS record-keeping and documentation control.
+ Conduct timely investigations of all environmental, health, and safety incidents to determine root cause and implement corrective action plans.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management or Environmental Management, or related field.
+ Three to five years of work experience required, with two years in a manufacturing environment.
+ Thorough knowledge of workers’ compensation regulations.
+ Extensive knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and other governmental regulations and laws, including OSHA 300 Logs and requirements set by insurance carriers.
+ Experience with multi-location plants and 24/7 operations.
+ Comprehensive understanding of EHS regulations and requirements in MA and RI.
+ Strong focus on behavioral safety and employee engagement.
+ Ability to influence up and down in an organization.
+ Experience managing an EHS management system, including OHSAS (ISO).
+ Experience with OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP).
+ OSHA General Industry 10- or 30-hour training course.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other EHS professional certification is preferred.
+ Forklift training experience.
+ Experience with ISO14001, OHSAS18001, and ISO45001.
Work Environment
The work environment includes a general office setting for approximately four hours per day and a manufacturing environment for approximately two and a half hours per day. The role may involve lifting up to 40 pounds for up to half an hour per day.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of London, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
