Job Title: Formulation TechnicianJob Description
As a Formulation Technician, you will be responsible for formulating buffers and other reagents for biotech applications, ranging from 100 µL to 2,000 L, in a clean manufacturing environment. You will also handle the isolation and dilution of nucleic acids, including RNA and DNA, and perform quality control testing using various techniques.
Responsibilities
+ Formulate buffers and reagents for biotech applications at varying scales in a clean manufacturing environment.
+ Lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds with appropriate personal protective equipment.
+ Isolate and dilute nucleic acids using pipetting and spectrophotometric techniques.
+ Conduct quality control testing on buffers and nucleic acids, including pH, conductivity, and agarose gels.
+ Troubleshoot manufacturing and quality control processes and document results in technical reports.
+ Revise and edit existing manufacturing protocols and contribute to the development of new protocols.
+ Participate in Practical Process Improvement (PPI) projects, including kaizens.
+ Manage manufacturing metrics to control processes and achieve productivity savings.
+ Prioritize and schedule work to ensure timely delivery.
+ Manage inventory accurately and efficiently.
+ Collaborate with peers within and across groups.
+ Train co-workers in the use of instrumentation, manufacturing processes, and software.
+ Adhere to ISO guidelines and USDA regulations.
+ Maintain a positive attitude to foster a healthy work environment.
+ Handle chemicals safely.
Essential Skills
+ Expertise in reagent formulation and PCR chemistry.
+ Strong molecular quality control skills, including RNA/DNA, qPCR, and gels.
+ Experience in regulated manufacturing and process improvement.
+ Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain complex laboratory equipment.
+ Understanding of chemical interactions necessary for PCR systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry or a related field.
+ 1+ years of related post-undergraduate experience preferred.
+ Familiarity with troubleshooting techniques, experimental design, and statistical quality control.
Work Environment
The position is fully onsite, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role requires wearing personal protective equipment, including a face mask, lab coat, and gloves.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Austin, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.50 - $26.50/hr.
