What Matters Most

Job Description
The Senior Estimator plays a crucial role in planning, coordinating, and supervising the estimating process to achieve corporate objectives. This position is responsible for managing complex estimating projects across various contract types while contributing to strategic business development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, analytical skills, and experience estimating large-scale construction projects. General Contracting experience is required, and candidates with only Subcontracting experience will not be considered.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee estimating department functions, including budgeting, staffing, and performance evaluations
• Prepare and review final estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness before submission
• Analyze historical data from estimates, purchase orders, and job cost reports to refine unit costs and man-hour figures
• Provide technical support and mentorship to estimating personnel throughout the bidding process
• Collaborate with leadership to identify target projects and establish bidding strategies
• Participate in client presentations as part of the bid process
• Partner with business development to execute company growth plans, identify new opportunities, and participate in client negotiations
• Prepare detailed estimates and perform comprehensive takeoffs for large-scale projects
• Lead the recruitment, training, and evaluation of estimating and sales staff
• Maintain major profit and loss responsibility for the estimating function
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by company leadership
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• 5-10 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably with a General Contractor
• General Contracting experience is required (Subcontracting-only experience will not be considered)
• Experience leading teams and managing large-scale construction projects
• Strong conceptual estimating abilities, including identifying complete system components with limited details
• Expertise in estimating a variety of project types and contract structures
• Must have Timberline experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with owners, architects, designers, and project managers
• Strong presentation skills to participate in client bid presentations
• Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects
