Sr. Data Engineer

Join our Seller Fees Tech organization and lead the data infrastructure supporting Amazon's marketplace fee systems across the globe. As a Data Engineer, you'll architect and implement the data pipelines, analytics frameworks, and reporting systems that power critical operations across Amazon's global marketplaces. Your work will enable data-driven decision making for fee structures, incentive programs, and adjustments. You will build scalable data solutions that process billions of transactions while maintaining high data quality and governance standards. In this role, you'll leverage your expertise to transform complex financial data into actionable insights that drive marketplace expansion strategies. You'll have the opportunity to pioneer GenAI-powered data solutions that improve analytics efficiency and uncover hidden patterns in the data. Working at the intersection of big data technologies, financial systems, and marketplace economics, you'll solve technical challenges that require both deep data engineering expertise and strong business acumen. The Seller Fees Tech organization supports over 2MM+ active sellers by ensuring accurate, transparent fee calculations. Your data solutions will provide the analytical foundation for financial decisions that affect seller profitability and marketplace growth worldwide. Key job responsibilities A. Data Architecture & Engineering Design and implement scalable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver fee transaction data across global marketplaces Develop data models that effectively represent complex fee structures, incentives, and adjustments Implement data quality frameworks to ensure accuracy and consistency of financial data Create and maintain data catalogs and metadata repositories for fee-related data assets Optimize data architecture for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency B. Analytics & Reporting Develop analytical data stores that enable cross-marketplace fee structure analysis Build dashboards and visualization solutions for monitoring fee implementation consistency Implement self-service analytics capabilities for business stakeholders Design and deliver data products that enable deeper understanding of seller financial impacts Support ad-hoc analysis needs with flexible, performant data solutions C. Innovation & Collaboration Pioneer GenAI adoption for advanced data analysis and pattern recognition in financial data Partner with Science team to implement machine learning pipelines for fee optimization Collaborate with software engineers to ensure seamless integration between operational and analytical systems Work with product managers to translate business requirements into data solutions Mentor junior data engineers and share data engineering best practices Participate in cross-functional initiatives to drive data-driven decision making Basic Qualifications - 5+ years of data engineering experience - Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines - Experience with SQL - Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS - Experience mentoring team members on best practices Preferred Qualifications - Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR - Experience operating large data warehouses Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
