Your New Role

Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Sr. Counsel, Legal, Acquisitions LATAM , to join the LATAM Legal group, focusing on content acquisitions for WBD’s streaming services and television networks. This role focuses on negotiating, and drafting agreements for content rights, and partnering with WBD’s business teams to support content initiatives across the LATAM markets.

The successful candidate will have expertise in content acquisition/licensing, a strong commercial acumen, and a pragmatic approach.

Your Role Accountabilities

Act as legal counsel for content acquisitions across WBD’s streaming services and television networks in LATAM, advising on all legal matters related to acquisition and exploitation of content rights, including: Structure, negotiate, and draft high volume of major studio, indie film, television series, kids, and live event content licenses.Update the department’s template agreements.Work closely with LATAM content teams responsible for sourcing content.Collaborate with other internal clients (distribution, marketing, finance, ad-sales, and product) to move key initiatives forward.Establish, maintain and develop relationships with key internal stakeholders and content suppliers.Support other company business initiatives as directed.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 8 years’ experience. Experience working in media, streaming, or television related business and/or knowledge of business and legal affairs in the entertainment industry, including content acquisition or content licensing, is strongly preferred.Excellent negotiation, drafting and contract analysis skills.Excellent interpersonal skills, including clear and effective communication at junior and senior levels within and outside the company.Ability to handle high volume of work, recognize priorities, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.Ability to function on an independent basis, with moderate supervision.Ability and flexibility to take on new legal challenges.Strong organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure.Familiarity with LATAM and US market is helpful.Knowledge/experience setting up databases, tables and automated forms is advantageous.Undergraduate degree required.JD degree from an accredited law school required.Active member of California, New York or Florida State Bar in good standing.Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
