Sr. Cost Accountant
Description *For more information, contact Jason Young @ jason.young@roberthalf.c0m or 937/637-7759* Due to growth, our client, a leading manufacturing company who has been in business for over 90 years is seeking a Sr. Cost Accountant. The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining and improving standard costing processes within a manufacturing environment. This role supports financial accuracy through inventory analysis, cost rollups, and collaboration with operations to ensure reliable product costing and inventory controls. The position plays a key role in monthly close and ongoing cost and inventory management. Key Responsibilities + Maintain and update standard costs, including material, labor, and overhead rates. + Perform and manage cost rollups within NetSuite to ensure accurate product costing. + Develop and support annual standard cost processes and updates. + Reconcile monthly inventory balances and investigate variances. + Participate in and oversee cycle counting programs and physical inventory counts. + Audit inventory counts and implements corrective actions as needed. + Analyze inventory and production variances and provide recommendations for improvement. + Assist with month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations. + Partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve costing accuracy and inventory controls. + Support continuous improvement initiatives related to cost accounting and inventory management. + Assist with internal and external audit requests related to inventory and costing. Requirements Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. + Minimum of 4 years of standard costing experience in a manufacturing environment. + Experience using NetSuite or similar ERP systems. + Strong understanding of inventory accounting and cost accounting principles. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally. + Some travel may be required at times.
