Sr. Cost Accountant
Job Title: Senior Cost Accountant

Job Description

We are seeking a high-energy individual with exceptional attention to detail to join our accounting team as a Senior Cost Accountant. This position is pivotal in leading cost and inventory functions, contributing significantly to month-end close, budgeting processes, and supporting strategic business decisions. The role involves organizing and monitoring inventory activities and is critical to the continued growth of our organization.

Responsibilities

Oversee all manufacturing cost accounting activities including month-end close, cost maintenance, labor and overhead absorption, inventory management, and tracking of freight and duties.Build strong cross-functional relationships with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering to gain a deep understanding of business drivers, processes, and cost structures.Develop and implement process improvements with a focus on scalability and change management.Drive operational efficiencies related to labor and overhead to enhance profitability.Collaborate with inventory control and internal audit teams to improve cycle count processes and inventory accuracy.Conduct variance analyses such as purchase price vs. cost, cost revaluation, invoice vs. PO price, and work order variances.Ensure ERP system accuracy through audits and coordination with inventory, production, and work order teams. Lead ERP enhancements to support evolving business needs.Partner with FP&A to identify cost drivers and build forecasting models. Ensure Bill of Materials accuracy and assess financial impact of cost reduction initiatives.Maintain process integrity across Manufacturing, Intercompany, and Inventory functions, resolving issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.Provide timely and accurate reporting to internal stakeholders and support external reporting requirements.Assist with monthly budget vs. actual analysis and support audit and compliance efforts.Uphold confidentiality and act as a trusted advisor to business partners.Run the entire WHIP process.

Essential Skills

5+ years of work experience in Accounting, preferably in a manufacturing and/or R&D environment.Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or a finance-related field.Experience with cost accounting, bill of material, Odoo, ERP, MRP, and cost analysis.Ability to understand the manufacturing environment and the associated financial processes.Knowledge of supply chain, receiving, inventory flow, operations process, and manufacturing principles.Excellent analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and business acumen.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Excellent project and time management abilities.Ability to work under pressure within short time constraints and in a complex high growth organization.Ability to pivot and successfully adapt in a constantly changing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

CPA/MBA desired.Public company experience.Supervisory experience.Financial reporting experience.

Work Environment

This position is based at the North Austin/Cedar Park HQ and operates Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. The role is primarily onsite, with occasional work at Briggs. The team works from home occasionally but is generally onsite.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Cedar Park, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
