Job Description

We are seeking a Cost Accountant with strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and technical skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in cost accounting, a good working knowledge of product costing, inventory management, variance analysis, and financial modeling. The role requires someone who can thrive in a complex, fast-paced environment and who demonstrates integrity and respect for others.

Responsibilities

Responsible for product costing for all new and existing products.Analyze cost variances, determine root causes, and prepare recommendations for improvement.Analyze product and gross margin monthly actual results.Establish material, labor, and overhead cost for quarterly bills of material analysis.Assist in completing the annual gross margin budget.Analyze inventory trends and develop reports to communicate significant changes.Provide financial support to ensure accurate inventory records.Assist with the annual physical inventory and cycle count programs.Responsible for capital budgeting and actuals reporting to operations.Provide support on month-end closing and projects as assigned.Reconcile inventory general ledger account balances accurately and timely.Prepare monthly analyses and reports for Operations management.Identify areas for process improvement, make recommendations, and implement improvements.Comply with company policies, standard operating procedures, and Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 internal controls.Collaborate with internal and external audit teams.Ensure compliance with SOX.Perform job duties in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).During the initial months, focus on invoice coding through Avid, inputting proper accounting codes, month-end journal entries, inputting into Great Planes, month-end reporting linked to both sequel and Great Planes, comparison reports, and reason code reports.Assist with monthly supplies inventory, including cycle counting and inventory reporting.Work closely with local operations and the accounting team in Tampa.

Essential Skills

Bachelor’s degree in accounting.Approximately 2-4 years of cost accounting experience.Experience using accounting software.Proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUP and Pivot Table functions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Business Administration is highly valued.Active CPA is a plus.Experience with Great Plains software.Skills in cost analysis, inventory reporting, and journal entry.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
