Sr. Accountant
Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Lenexa, Kansas. This role is ideal for professionals with a solid accounting background, particularly in the construction industry, who excel at managing month-end processes and maintaining precise financial records. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to critical accounting functions and ensure compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities: • Manage and execute month-end close procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all entries align with organizational policies. • Oversee accounting for work-in-progress (WIP) and job cost tracking to support project profitability analysis. • Apply revenue recognition principles to accurately account for earned revenue in compliance with relevant standards. • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to analyze financial data related to construction projects. • Prepare detailed financial reports and summaries for management review. • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting workflows and efficiency. • Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations and accounting practices. • Support audits by providing required documentation and resolving inquiries. • Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures for the organization. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry. • Proficiency in month-end close processes and general ledger management. • Solid understanding of work-in-progress (WIP) accounting and job costing. • Experience with revenue recognition principles and their application. • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in financial reporting. • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. • Knowledge of construction industry accounting practices and standards. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
