Sr. Accountant
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Grant Accountant to join our team in Portland, Maine. In this role, you will oversee financial processes related to grants, including pre-award and post-award activities, ensuring compliance and accuracy. You will play a pivotal role in managing grant accounting operations and supporting the organization's financial goals. Responsibilities: • Manage all aspects of grant accounting, including pre-award and post-award activities. • Perform month-end closing procedures, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. • Prepare and record journal entries to maintain proper financial documentation. • Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies to ensure data integrity. • Monitor and manage government grants, ensuring compliance with regulations and reporting requirements. • Collaborate with the grant department to support daily operational needs. • Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide insights for decision-making. • Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures in financial operations. • Assist with audits related to grants and financial reporting. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on grants preferred. • Proficiency in month-end close processes and journal entry preparation. • Strong knowledge of account reconciliation and financial data analysis. • Experience with grant accounting and management, including government grants. • Familiarity with compliance requirements for grant reporting. • Excellent organizational and time management skills. • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
