Sr. Accountant
Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join our client's team. This role is integral to ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance, supporting inventory costing, and driving process improvements across multiple entities. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills and a collaborative approach to working with various departments. Responsibilities: • Complete month-end closing activities, including preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheets, and performing internal controls across multiple entities. • Review and oversee journal entries submitted by plant finance teams for accuracy before entering them into the company system. • Manage inventory costing processes, including handling ad hoc requests from manufacturing plants and supporting new product development projects. • Assist with the annual calculation and validation of inventory standard costs. • Analyze inventory costs to identify discrepancies, investigate root causes, and support audits related to materials, labor, overhead, and bill of materials. • Collaborate with accounting and non-accounting teams to improve processes and enhance the accuracy of financial reporting. • Communicate findings and insights effectively to colleagues and leadership through both verbal and written channels. • Provide support for special projects and ad-hoc financial requests. • Take on additional responsibilities as needed Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent relevant experience is strongly preferred. • CPA or CMA certification or active candidacy is desirable. • Previous experience in accounting or related training is preferred. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required. • Familiarity with Power BI is preferred. • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, including standard costs and bill of materials. • Proven ability to manage general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to review and audit financial data effectively.
