Sr. Accountant, GPO
**This is a hybrid role and you must be located in, or willing to relocate to, San Francisco for the position.** **About the Role** As a key member of the Accounting team, you will be part of the GPO (Global Process Owner) team, driving high-impact initiatives focused on process excellence, system enablement, and transformation across all Accounting Ops activities. This role requires close collaboration with Delivery Center leads, FinTech, Strategic Finance, Global Business Services (GBS), and various business partners to ensure streamlined, standardized, and optimized accounting processes. You will help shape the future-state roadmap for accounting processes, with a focus on automation, controls, scalability, and global consistency. **What You'll Do** + Lead continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives across accounting systems and processes. + Define, document, and enhance workflows that ensure timely, accurate, and efficient month-end close cycles. + Collaborate with FinTech and product teams to evolve enterprise solutions, enhance the user experience, and drive adoption across global teams. + Translate business needs into comprehensive requirements, aligning upstream and downstream process touchpoints to gain stakeholder alignment. + Utilize large datasets to deliver insightful flux analyses and operational metrics to support business decisions. + Act as a point of contact for stakeholder escalations, working to ensure swift resolution and effective communication. + Identify and drive automation opportunities and design efficient, scalable end-to-end accounting processes. + Own and execute key internal control activities; ensure documentation is maintained, tested, and enhanced regularly. + Partner with external and internal auditors to facilitate timely and effective audit cycles. + Provide support for special projects and cross-functional initiatives, offering subject matter expertise and execution excellence. **Basic Qualifications** + 3+ years of relevant experience, including Big 4 public accounting assurance/audit (Senior level) and/or Senior Accountant roles within large, high-volume corporate environments. + Strong data analysis and Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, advanced formulas); experience with visualization tools (e.g., Tableau etc) is a plus. + Bachelor's Degree. **Preferred Qualifications** + Strong understanding of US GAAP, SOX compliance, and public company audit requirements. + Experience working with large-scale ERP systems (SAP or Oracle preferred). + Strong knowledge of the end-to-end accounting lifecycle, including month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting. + Functional expertise in Accounting Operations, Projects, Audits, Controls, and Transformation Initiatives. + Proven ability to supervise or coordinate with outsourced service providers, ensuring quality and timeliness. + Experience in managing cross-functional process improvement or transformation projects. + Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management, influencing, and interpersonal skills. + Highly organized, self-driven, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment. + Demonstrated ability to drive alignment across teams, work across functions, and lead initiatives with measurable impact. + Strategic thinker with hands-on execution capabilities and a continuous improvement mindset. + Exposure to global operations and understanding of international accounting and compliance frameworks is a plus. + Familiarity with FinTech platforms and enterprise automation tools (e.g., BlackLine etc). + Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma) a strong plus. Exposure to tools like ASANA. + Experience working in a Transformation-focused environment. + CPA Certification. + Prior experience leveraging AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc) to streamline and automate recurring process flows or assist in data analysis or manipulation. + Experience working with Python. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$118,000 per year - USD$131,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
