Position Description
The Senior Principal RF Engineer position supports Northrop Grumman’s Advanced Networking Solutions (ANS) Operating Unit programs. You will be joining a design team generating an RF solution for Northrop Grumman’s advanced programs initiatives.
We are looking for a RF design engineer responsible for the development of innovative, leading-edge RF products. The position will use design tools such as Keysight Genesys and simulators STK. The designer must have good communication and presentation skills.
The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience with design, layout, test, and troubleshooting of RF circuits. Candidates will need to work in a collaborative environment and work with teammates to accomplish common goals. Design technologies will include various frequency bands.
This position will require an individual who is comfortable with working in a small team environment with a significant amount of autonomy and accountability, covering the full life cycle of projects from inception through production. Given the small team environment, a willingness to assume multiple roles and responsibilities is required, supporting RF design, device modelling, mechanical design, design for manufacturability, and business development. The ability to be hands-on, to work through others, to engage in leadership, and assist in customer development is emphasized.
Responsibilities
Technical lead role for RF product development.
Develop RF device, including Power Amplifier (PA), diplexer and antennas as required.
Execute verification test analysis and present results to the external customer.
Support product through critical lifecycle stages including concept/feasibility, development, demonstration, and design for production.
An ability to solve dynamic technical problems with minimal oversite
Senior Principal RF Engineer (Level 4)
Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related experience; or a Master of Science in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related experience; or a PhD and 4 year of related experience
RF circuit design experience
Antenna design experience
Keysight Genesys and STK experience
Must have an active Top Secret clearance
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain program access
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to develop product designs independently, and verify those designs through prototype fabrication and testing
Design and simulation experience
RF engineering background; antenna design, noise implications, and experience with various frequency bands
Experience moving from concept to prototype and demonstration rapidly
Practical experience assembling RF circuits in a bench-test environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Primary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
