Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Hardware – Site Engineer (26-015) to join our talented and diverse team. Based in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations systematically, monitor the battle collectively, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations globally and regionally to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate current and future missile defense system capabilities.

This is a team deputy/admin position on the C2BMC Deployment Team that requires managing the team's administrative tasks, multiple projects in parallel, and pop-up functions as they arise.

Essential Functions:

Preparation and review of site drawings and plans

Review of the content and details of technical products

Acting as a technical interface between the Missile Defense National Team (MDNT) working-level counterparts and the MDA customer

Document work to be completed using Agile methodologies, update as required, and coordinate with team leadership on work completion

Develop Basis of Estimates (BOE) and Engineering Estimates (EE), providing hour estimates and justification for completion, along with installation material estimates

The successful Site Engineering deputy will be a member of a focused team that interfaces with peer-level team members, the Deployment Team Leadership, and NT management to ensure high-quality products are delivered on time and within available resources

May serve in project leadership roles and represent the organization as the prime customer contact on significant technical matters under contract

This position will also require the ability to work with a team, both in person and remotely

Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree

Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the eligibility to be cleared at SCI

Willingness to travel up to 10% for business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently in a team environment and require limited guidance

Knowledge of engineering concepts, principles, and techniques; proficiency in Microsoft Visio (other equivalent professional drawing programs desired) and Microsoft Excel; and a strong understanding of drafting and hardware engineering standards

Basic understanding of networks (VLANs, switch stacking, routers, etc.)

Supporting engineering tasks in the following areas:

Technical-related meetings

Configuration control

Bill of Materials development

Provide drafting and design engineering during the system design, development, and deployment activities

Control and manage all drawings for the program

Completing required documentation and drawings in accordance with the Systems and/or Hardware Engineer's direction

Work with fielding and mission-success organizations to ensure timely and accurate documentation

Working knowledge of Agile methodologies

Previous experience in:

Systems Engineering/Hardware Engineering

Fluent in the Microsoft Office suite

Project management

Strong communication skills with a proactive mindset

C2BMC experience highly desired

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

Primary Level Salary Range: $117,500.00 - $176,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
